ÃÛÌÒapp Acklam has opened its doors to the local community for an afternoon tea. Students, staff and governors at the school hosted the event, which was attended by residents and staff from St Mary’s Care Home and The Willows Care Home, with local police officer PCO Annabel Allison also in attendance.

Community spirit was alive and well this summer as students from across the Outwood Family of Schools completed the inaugural 'Out There' challenge. The groundbreaking student community action programme saw hundreds of young people dedicate their time to driving positive change in their local areas.

The Outwood Family of Schools is continuing to follow guidance and its policy to ensure staff are well-informed and supported as they go through menopause.

ÃÛÌÒapp Ormesby has welcomed Chris Cooke, mayor of Middlesbrough and Councillor Philippa Storey to its newly introduced ‘Welcome Hub’, which is making a difference in the lives of students by providing a warm and supportive space at the start of each school day. 

Outwood Primary Academy Newstead Green brought a wave of cheer its the local area, celebrating its recent Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) initiative in conjunction with the national #HelloYellow campaign for World Mental Health Day on Friday, October 10.

Middlesbrough teen, Abdul Bazina, has embarked on his post-16 journey at Eton College after receiving the Orwell Award, a full scholarship that provides full boarding while he studies for his A-Levels in maths, further maths, biology, chemistry and physics.

Students and staff from across the Outwood Family of Schools spent four weeks in Cambodia this summer on an expedition organised in partnership with Camps International.

The Outwood Institute of Education (OIE) has been awarded Institutional Member Status by the Chartered College of Teaching, a designation recognising the institution’s commitment to professional learning and evidence-informed practice.

Work is now well underway on the new, permanent ÃÛÌÒapp Riverside school building, which was marked by an official groundbreaking ceremony on 1 October 2025. This milestone is a significant step forward in providing a top-quality educational environment for students and staff who have long awaited a permanent site.

Year 11 students from ÃÛÌÒapp Foxhills gained a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the engineering, technology, and career opportunities at British Steel's Scunthorpe site on National Manufacturing Day, helping them to envision their future success.
